Back in December, MakersBox organized an Ideathon that engaged over 1000 underprivileged girl children in Karnal. Fast forward three months to 2nd April 2016 and we are proud to announce the launch of our first Maker Lab in Karnal in partnership with the local District Government. Located in the heart of the city with the Bal Bhawan and other schools right in the proximity, MakersBox Karnal has been positioned centrally to spur education and innovation amongst students and learners of all age groups. The MakersBox Innovation lab was inaugurated by Mr. B.L. Chawla (Father of the Late Kalpana Chawla, First Woman of Indian Origin in Space) in the Presence of Deputy Commissioner Dr. J. Ganesan, the Founding Team ofMakersBox consisting of Harpreet Kaur Sapra, Dhruv Bhutani and Harkrishan Singh, amongst other Dignitaries and Guests.
Having the right tool for the job is critical and for this we’ve equipped our innovation lab with a full set of mechanical tools. Everything from basic hack saws to cordless drills as well as hot glue guns. We also have a fully equipped soldering station as well as a dremel workstation. All learners and tinkerers will have access to Arduinos, Robotics Kits as well as Raspberry Pi boards. This is in addition to our courseware, software and high speed internet backbone. The pièce de résistance is our state of the art 3D printer which can be of use to both the local industry as well as small scale inventors for quick prototyping. A 25 seat air-conditioned class room space has also been allocated where we will be hosting workshops, guest lecturers from the foremost tinkerers in the industry.
An innovation lab however is nothing without the innovators. Innovators like you who have a dream and the spark to make things happen. MakersBox Karnal is here to offer you technical support, guidance and the tools to accelerate product innovation and to enable the Government’s “Make In India” and “Skill India” vision. We welcome you to join us in spreading the Maker Movement in India, one step at a time.
