Announced last year, Intel has finally introduced the Quark D2000 low power x86 microcontroller. Roughly equivalent to a pentium class processor, it is a 32bit processor running at 32Mhz. There’s 32kB of flash on board and 8kb of RAM.
Part of Intel’s IOT push, the board comes with an impressive sensor hub built in. You get access to a 6 axis compass, accelerometer and a temperature sensor. The board is Arduino compatible, has a coin cell holder with a micropower switching regulator.
The board is shipping now for a sub $15 price point from your usual electronics hardware suppliers. Interested? If x86 code is your thing, you certainly should be![Via – Arrow]
